As many tourists seem to do, we picked Bondi Beach as our first stop during our coastal visit to Sydney, Australia.
While doing a lot of research for our trip, most every blog and itinerary I found recommend visiting this world renowned beach.
We had high hopes and were excited to spend the day relaxing in the beach as a family.
Unfortunately, upon arriving, we found the beach to be unappealingly crowded, short of our exceptions and not an idealistic place for our beach day out.
I must admit Bondi Beach has a lot to offer and is definitely lively and action packed, which can be an appealing place for many.
However, at the time our children were young and our little one was only a few months.
It was important for us to be able to relax and focus on our kids without too many distractions that included having to worry about them wandering off in the crowds and getting lost.
Not long after we had made our way into Bondi Beach, we decided to drive up to a little more secluded spot.
Tamarama Beach was conveniently close while giving the feel of being a more quaint and less frequented option.
Although not far from all the action of its neighboring sister beach, we found Tamarama Beach to be a little piece of paradise with an even more picturesquely intimate setting and local vibe.
It became clear to me this was truly a hidden gem most tourists were unaware of and definitely frequented more by the locals than tourists.
Bathrooms were nearby which is always a plus, especially when traveling with little ones.
The stunning cliff views with charming homes above made it all the more memorable.
We found it to be kid approved with its soft pristine sand, making it easy to move around and play in.
Our kids spent hours building sand castles and taking turns burying each other.
Nearby shallow tide pools made for a convenient way for the kids to get in and out of the water without getting overwhelmed by crashing waves.
As parents, we spent our time playing with the kids and also relaxing while they enjoyed the safe environment.
Definitely Tamarama Beach proved to be a great choice for a family getaway without having to worry about crowds and busy chaos from the more congested Bondi Beach.
