The Rockhouse Hotel in Jamaica truly offered a secluded romantic escape from anything we had ever experienced before.
The adults-only boutique hotel offering 34 individual villas surrounded by a lush green tropical oasis.
The breathtaking cliff views, affordable price, magnificent ocean water and top notch service made for a perfect retreat.
Each villa offered its own private water access. This unique feature certainly added to the romantic feel.
Being in close proximity to the ocean made for wonderful swimming, exploring and snorkeling opportunities.
For me, the most intriguing part of the experience was being able to explore caves found right below the hotel.
My thrill-seeking husband, on the other hand, found cliff diving to be the most exciting part of our stay.
I couldn’t keep him from jumping in repeatedly.
Suggestions for Visiting the Rockhouse Hotel:
-Book early on. As explained prior, it’s a small boutique hotel so it fills up fast.
-Be aware there is very limited wii-fi signal. The only place you can get a constant signal is in the hotel restaurant and common sitting area.
-There is no tv in the room but with paradise surrounding you – who needs one : )
-Children over 12 are welcome to stay but due to the dangerous overhang cliffs and increased liability, they do not allow younger children.
-There are no places to eat (aside from the hotel restaurants) or nightlife near by, so plan on having to hire a taxi or driver to take you around.
-Since you are in a tropical setting expect mosquitos and bugs. They fumigate but we still found critters in the outdoor bathrooms and throughout the hotel grounds.
-Be careful and mindful about cliff diving. The hotel does not take responsibility and warn you that you will be doing it at your own risk.
-The hotel does not allow petty vendors to approach the hotel through the water and bombard you while you are trying to relax. I heard this is a very common practice in Jamaica and we were extremely grateful not to have to deal with it.
This eco friendly retreat was designed with total relaxation in mind which included no in room TV’s and limited wi-fi access (only in main parts of the hotel).
If you are looking for the ultimate Jamaican tropical retreat to help you completely relax and disconnect from everyday life, this is the place for you.
