{A Hot Tub Boat – Is there such a thing?}

After visiting Seattle a few years ago, and having had experienced some of the most well known touristic spots, I wanted to see other unique points of interest this time around.

Seattle’s Union Lake seemed like a great place to explore due to  the cute, charming and picturesque floating homes at the water’s edge.

While doing research for our day’s itinerary I found a company that would allow us to sail around the iconic lake through the use of a rental hot tub boat.

Yes you read that right – a HOT TUB BOAT.

I had no idea something like that even existed, and once I did I knew we had to give it a try for sure.

Boy am I glad we took a chance!

What an epic day we had.

While the cold fall weather seemed less than ideal to put on a swimsuit, we cruised out into the lake feeling adventurous and cozy in 104 degree fahrenheit water.

An added perk to our already amazing day was that it was also the hubs birthday.

Talk about a perfect activity to celebrate his special day.

Not many can say that they were sung a happy birthday tune on a hot tub boat in Seattle, lol!

Seattle in the fall, a great view from a hot tub boat.

Sailing near the picturesque lake houses and being able to see their lovely architectural designs was a unique opportunity to see the city in another angle.

Each member of our family picked their favorite home and we all dreamed of how cool it must be to live on the water.

We also saw plenty of kayakers, sail boats and yachts in addition to a few sea planes who landed right by us.

Quite often we had curious passengers from other boats approach us to see why we were crazy enough to be out in our swimsuits.

While they all looked cold and bundled up, we sat comfortably half dressed on the deck of our boat waving hello, ha!

We couldn’t help but laugh at the silly scenario that kept playing out each time we were approached.

There are not many dry places on deck so we were glad we had our waterproof phone cases so we could capture photos and videos without having to worry about dropping our phone in the water or having our kiddos splash water on it.

Seattle travel ideas

I can only imagine what a magical scene it might be should one be cruising around in the hot tub boat during a light winter storm; dreamy.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride never sounded more fitting.

Although the 2 hour cruise runs about $350 which can be a little steep on the wallet, I must admit, it was one of the most brilliant and unique adventures we have done as a family.

They provide life jackets for everyone, but children under 12 years are required to wear them at all times (if your kiddos prefer to wear their own bring it, this is a great one for traveling).

If you are visiting Seattle with a group its alway a great option to go in it together and cut down on the cost by splitting it.

Hot Tub Boats operate all year around and you can find more information including reviews  here.

Our kids still say this was their most favorite travel activities during our trip and we couldn’t agree more.

Hands down an epic experience!

During our trip we also enjoyed visiting the unique Fremont Troll (here) which was only a few minutes from the Hot Tub Boat location.

This is so cool. I have never seen a hot tub boat. Also, those houses remind me of the movie Sleepless in Seattle, how quaint. That would be such a awesome place to live.

The hot tub boat idea was definitely a surprise to us as well. Not something you see or get to experience everyday. A highlight was most certainly sailing through those gorgeous floating homes, I thought about Sleepless in Seattle as well 🙂 If you are ever in the area I would recommend looking into it for sure – thanks so much Miranda!
